The Rainbow Bridge

Every soul is special, and we consider ourselves lucky to think of each as family. According to Norse legend, a bridge was built from the land of Humankind to the land of the Gods, made of the elements which glowed of ever-changing hues. This legend has been adapted and adopted by pet lovers around the world into a story called the Rainbow Bridge. Here we pay tribute to some of our beloved friends who have crossed that Rainbow Bridge. Our hearts are with their families.

Our friend Patty is with you now, Bob - show her the ropes, we love you both!

The ones we remember. . .

Jasper C.

Beloved friend for 15 years. We watched him grow from a 6 week old ball of red energy and fluff into a stately and refined gentleman Toy Poodle. Crossed the bridge May of 2009.

Tupper J.

The true definition of a lady in every way. This big, beautiful black Standard Poodle left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Crossed the bridge June of 2009.

Tiffany M.

This adorable, tiny, snow-white maltese was a Princess in her own right (and knew it!). We were always happy to see her, and she was a good sport about grooming. After all, what's a Princess without her star treatment? We were sad to hear her spark had burnt out in July of 2009.

Dulcie M.

It was no secret that Dulcie was attached to her human "mom", she was never entirely thrilled to leave Ms. Ruth and spend an hour or so with us. We were saddened to hear of her passing only weeks before her "Mom" passed as well -- now they're on the bridge together. July of 2009.

Maggie P.

This one-of-a-kind Kerry Blue Terrier was so patient and understanding, despite her labor intensive groom and impromptu photo sessions. It was wonderful to have the chance to know such a great girl. Crossed the bridge August of 2009.

Ty D.

Ty was a very impressive and unique white German Shepherd. Everyone at the salon loved her and her gentle nature. Cancer stole her from us before her time. She crossed the bridge September of 2009.

Suede K.

Our own personal pet, Suede was about a year old when we rescued him. He was shy, frightened and flighty, having been bounced from home to home. With us, he blossomed into the big, goofy, man-loving Standard Poodle who often knocked people off their feet - literally and figuratively. Even men who "didn't like poodles" loved Suede. His spark shined for 14 years. Crossed the bridge in September of 2009.

Niki C.

We only had the pleasure of this delightful little red pekingese for a short while, as we met him when he was already well into his golden years. He was quite a good sport, and it was beyond obvious that his human Mom really loved him to pieces for his whole 16 years. Crossed the bridge November of 2009.

Buddy S.

We didn't know Buddy for very long, but this delightful Springer Spaniel left a lasting impression on us all. He was a sweetheart and is fondly remembered. His spark burned for 6 years before crossing the bridge November 28, 2009.

GheeGhee K.

Ghee was a beloved member of the family for a great number of years. He will be forever missed and cherished. Crossed the bridge December 14, 2009.

Pepper M.

Pepper was always a doll, and we enjoyed seeing her and all of her All-American Mutt goodness. We were saddened to hear that her spark crossed the bridge on December 21st, 2009.

Mercedes K.

Mercedes, fondly known as "Chi-Chi Bug", was a joy to have around. A typical blonde, she filled our lives with comedy & love. She was excellent with our children & grandchildren, and we are sad to see such a lovely soul depart. Her spark shined brightest on April 6th, 2010.

The Poem

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each
beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge
they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole,
their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed,
with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass,
without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other,
these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Miss Me - But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.

Why cry for a soul that is free?
Miss me a little, but not too long
And not with your head bowed low,

Remember the love
that we once shared
Miss me -- but let me go.

For this is a journey
that we all must take,
And each must go alone,

It's all a part of the master plan
A step on the road home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know.
And bury your sorrows
in doing good deeds,

Miss me -- but let me go.
